@4:31pm.
Alright time to fill you in on stuff I've been leaving out. Nothing important or anything...just a small update. So, in late July I can't remember the date but my dad had told me about a car that he thought was worth me looking at. So, that same night...around 7:00pm we took a drive to Regent street. The car was in very good shape...there was no rust on it at all. Inside looked junkie but only because as soon as the guy bought the car (brand new) he had put on seat covers, two seat covers...and in the back seat as-well. This guy looked after his car. We took it for a test drive, and it drove good. We left later on and went to visit my Grand-parents (Dad's side.) We stayed there about two and a half hours, when we were leaving I had gone to the car, and my dad was still talking to them outside. When he did come he handed me a few bills. There was eight-hundred dollars. "What..? what's this for?" "You're grandpa gave you that, it's to buy your car." Awe, I hated taking money from them...They were always handing it out to me and my sister's like it was candy. They had already gone back in the house, and we were on the road so I had to wait to get home and call them up to thank them. Also that same night, my dad had called Roger, the owner of the car to tell him we'd take it, and pick it up tomorrow!
So the next day dad and I went back down to Regent around 10:30am. Roger offered to drive the car back to our house, and do all the paper work there. So, he was following behind us...and oh my...was he ever slow! He was like doing 60 or under in the 80 zone. Anyways when we finally got back home Roger handed over a few things that the car came with, also the owner ship of the car. After that the phone rang and so my dad was on the phone with his brother Darryl, so I went to pay Roger. I handed him, $100.00 bill one at a time as I counted, one hundred, two hundred, three hundred, all the way until all the bills were gone, and it was eight hundred. Then he handed me two sets of keys, I said, "Thank you." Dad just then had gotten off the phone, talked a bit more with Roger and asked him if I had payed him, and then my dad took off again to bring Roger home. I looked just outside my dad's garage door. There it was...My very first car! A green 98 Chevy Cavalier. Sure it wasn't a Ford Mustang, but hey it was going to finally get me around places! It may also be a Chevy...but hey at least it was my favorite colour, Green!! ha ha.
Anyways I drove it into dad's garage and began cleaning. I didn't think that would take long, but oh my was I wrong! I cleaned inside and out for hours even with the help of both mom and dad. Since the guy had pretty much always gave it a greasy paint job, I had to scrub it off in places where I didn't want it showing. Couldn't open the trunk without getting a hand full of grease on you. It was insane. Then I had to rip off the two seat covers on both sides. They were on there pretty good...I had to use a damn pocket knife to get them out. It was worth it though, the seats are very, very clean and in awesome shape. Looked like we had just gotten it brand new! So after a few good hours of cleaning, we all stopped...only because the power had gone out. It had started to rain and thunder a bit and then the power was cut. Even with the light coming in with dad's big door being open wasn't enough light to keep going. We all went in the house, and called it a day! It was actually pretty much done, all it really needed was to go through a car wash and that's about it.
The next day, I had to wake up early again, this time dad and I had to finish everything up. I think it was around 10:00am. First off we went to "Straight-Line-Auto," It's a company that our next-door neighbor had opened. We knew him for years now...Well ever since we moved into our house, which has been about 14 years now? Anyways, we were there to get a mechanical. Instead of waiting to book an appointment and having to wait for them to look at it, this was so much faster! Kevin, the owner and our neighbor knew my dad was also a mechanic, so it's not like he had to worry or hesitate to write one up for us, which by the way only took about 5 minutes.
Then we were off to Allstate Insurance. It took the longest there, which was probably about 45 minutes. The money is just going to be taken out of my account, I had to pay $200.00 and something each month. Damn...I never knew it was going to be that expensive. The girl told us that when I turn 25, and had no record of accidents or speeding tickets then the Insurance would go down a lot. Jeez...and I'm only 19.
So when that was finally done, we went to change the owner-ship, and to pick up my first plates! This part also didn't take long. My plates are really easy to, I already know them by heart! Then we were on our way home to finish up my car! First I had to stop on Lasalle to go into the blood clinic...I needed to have blood work, and since we were out I thought I'd just get it done and over with. It was around 12:30pm which was a good time to go. There was barely anyone waiting.
When I got home I had to go into the house for a second, like to go to the bathroom, When I was ready to go back outside I got distracted by the phone, and ended up talking to my older sister Lisa. My dad came in looking for me, so I had to blame it on Lisa ha ha. Anyways, when we did go outside...my dad had already put on the plates. I had wanted to do that.
Out we went again, however this time I was driving my first car!! My dad took me through my first car wash, I was kind of nervous because I had no idea what I was doing. I remember being really scared of the car wash when I was little lol. After that we stopped off at my grand-parents house, I had to show them what they had bought me!
I now finally have my very first car! So far I've only had to fill it up once! It's great on gas, and well it's over all a good little car for anyone's first. I'm a bit annoyed with myself on how I can't even remember the date all of this happen. I know it was after the Elliot Lake Drag Races, I had it when I went to Toronto for my Angiogram... So it was in between July 19th, - to August 1st. So, it was sometime in the mid or late dates of July.
